Tailgate Panel

So I saw something on here a few days ago about how much the tailgate brushed aluminum panels cost from LMC. $500?! I have one on my truck with the Chevrolet that is in perfect condition just a little dirty. I am almost glad that the P.O. had a campershell wich he had to take the tailgate off for. stored for some 20 years. How hard are they to come by without any dents?

Re: Tailgate Panel

I cant really tell you how hard they are to come by, but i have sometimes see them in salvage yards i have been to. That some thing i cant understand with LMC, most of there prices are excellent, but some things are crazy overpriced!!

Re: Tailgate Panel

Well, if it costs 500- I suppose I can take a loss and trade mine for a rust free bed.

Re: Tailgate Panel

I took mine off about a year ago. I kind of like how it looks without the tailgate band. I also had to verify that price on here when I saw that.

Re: Tailgate Panel

Oh, btw my band is from a 75. Not one of the "skinny" ones from newer trucks.

Re: Tailgate Panel

It's hard to find one used that's not dented, and the way they're built, you can't get behind them to get the dents out. I like the way they look on the right truck, but if it's even got one little dent, it stands out like a sore thumb. I've seen pristine ones bring good bucks on ebay, but not $500.

Re: Tailgate Panel

ive had little problem finding them on ebay or at the various swap meets ive attended and the other great source is this very board the parts section here is excellent for finding the perfect parts for your project

Re: Tailgate Panel

yeah... I was the guy asking about the Tailgate band.... In LMC they are outrageous expensive...

U know what else is expensive in LMC? The window swithches. Like $150...

I'd rather just use an off brand toggle switch....
