What did you get done? 02/24
My wife had friends in town this weekend so I was on my own and had the weekend off. Did I go drinking with the boys? Heck no, I worked around the house. Saturday I got the oil changed, and tires rotated on my daily driver. I wash the exteriors, and cleaned the interior up.
Sunday I spent most of the day working in the yard. It tooks 20+ bags to haul all of the clippings off. Next weekend I'll get the mulch down. What did you get done?

Re: What did you get done? 02/24
I drove to Louisville, Ky Friday with my 781 heads from the 454 I'm building for the '87 lowrider.
Here's what they looked like when I removed them from the block last week. My wife and I dropped them off at my brothers shop so he could get them in the washer, cleaned up and ready to start the machine work on Saturday morning. We left his shop 30 minutes later heading down I65 to his house and I lost power in my '86 Jimmy. Had to tow it back to his shop. Saturday morning, I started working on it while he started working on the heads. The problem was in the pickup stator in the distributor. So, I rebuilt the distributor and fired it up. Later in the day, he got the heads finished. Here are the old valves and new ones: He opened up those stock heads with 2.190/1.880 valves Here's the finished product, ready for paint and installation: Got them back home last night. Started prepping the lower end tonight. Hope to have it running in a few weeks. Kenny

Re: What did you get done? 02/24
I just got home from the snow in Lake Tahoe. The wife and I had a blast. It was a little slow going on the way home due to chain restrictions, but we made it. It was definatly nice to get away for the weekend and not have to work.

Installed an alternator belt. Thinking I might install a higher temp thermostat. Gets warm but never really hot. Spring is supposed to show up around here pretty soon though.

Re: What did you get done? 02/24
I finished the necessary mod's to my OE spindles for the Budget Big-Brake kit (http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=245314). I got the spindle forging seams all ground down & they look much better even though they'll never be seen (or used by me). It's a sickness . . .....
I wanted to get a pic of the 68 w/the brake assembly installed but really needed to finish a few things for the Dropmember install first. I made the initial cuts & clean-up on the frame rails for the R&P notches a few weeks ago but didn't weld anything because I wanted to verify everything was correct (I needed a steering rack which I didn't have @ the time). Today I tacked the c-notches in & then installed the main DM crossmember w/a R&P unit. Everything lined up ok so I pulled it back apart to finish welding the c-notches. I go to start welding & can't get any spark. It's like the welder (Hobart 210) isn't grounding. It did the tack welds fine just one hour earlier but now it's dead. I checked a couple of 'circuit protectors' the unit has but they appear ok. You pull the trigger & the wire feeds like it should but there's no ground (it wouldn't even ground to the main terminal where the ground cable is mounted). I also checked my power source. I swapped my plugs (I use my dryers power supply) & the dryer runs fine & heated w/o any issue. Needless to say..... I'm bummed. So, this week will be the 'BBB' install on some Western Chassis dropped spindles. Hopefully I'll get some new 'shoes' I'm expecting & can figure out what's wrong w/the welder.

Re: What did you get done? 02/24
Yesterday I woke up early and wrote some papers for school. After that fun time was over, I enjoyed the sunny day by laying some coats of Mothers 7, 9 then tech wax on the truck.
Today I swapped out the show tires on the daily driver for the summers. SOO much nicer to drive now.

I took my first weekend off in about 3 months! I cleaned my truck up on Saturday, so it could rain on it Sunday. Whoever said that owning the company would allow for more time off LIED!

Not awhole lot of anything car and truck related? Hung out with friends and the some women for the entire weekend. The usual chores like laundry and room cleanup. Got my dogs all muddy and walked today. Thats about all, it started sleeting and rained slow on and off for the day.

Re: What did you get done? 02/24
I took my sister car shopping both Sat and Sun. I have FINALLY talked her into getting rid of her POS hyundai! In it's place she is getting a 95 deville for nice weather (I still have to get it), and a 88 4x4 burb with a 3 inch spring lift and 31 10.50's that we picked up today! Both need some work to be dependable daily drives but hey, I converted her back to GM! I really wouldn't have cared except every time she broke the pos she wants me to go haul it in, and fix it. The best part is for the pair she has $800 in them. The burb has new rubber on the ground, a new goodwrench tbi 350, and a reman 700r4. The cadillac has a perfect body, and 3 easy fix codes to take care of.

Re: What did you get done? 02/24
Spent a good part of the day on Saturday working on the van and the truck. I took the Edelbrock off the 350 in the van and did a partial disassemble so I could clean the needles and float bowls. I put it back on and it starts and runs BUT it needs to be adjusted because the idle speed is a bit high and there is a little smoke in the exhaust.
I put new rotors, pads and bearings on the C10. It only took me 3 trips to the parts store(s) to get the bearings I needed. I gave the initial guy specific information about the truck and he still gave me the wrong parts. I didnt find out until I had the truck in the air with the rotor off so I had to get a ride back to the parts store only to find out they only had 3 of the 4 bearings I needed. I ended up going to a different chain and got everything put back together. As a treat to myself after doing all that "menial" work I put the new front bumper on my truck. I wasnt totally satisfied with the fit but it looks better than the stock painted one.

Re: What did you get done? 02/24
Swapped waterpumps on my dads daily beater 96 safari van. Put all new hoses on it. Got all the air pockets out of the cooling system. First time since we got it that it has kept a steady temperature. No yellow snow under it either put together the treadmill from h.#!!. Helped clean the bottom of the bed on my neighbor's 1989 Chevy rcsb. He pulled the truck out of the shed. So his handyman carpenter will have room to work on his 34 ford It has been sitting dormant for almost 2 years.

SAT- Drove the Hotrod around for awhile with my son, cleaned up the yard, and hung up a few more shelfs in the garage.
SUN- Rearranged garage, pulled the hood, grill, and fenders from the Charger, detailed the engine and interior of the '78....

Re: What did you get done? 02/24
Got the engine in the bird and fired her up. She hit right off the bat and ran like a champ. We drove her up to the the mountains for the initial drive. It ran flawlessly. We dident use squat for gas so it seems to be a good little motor not a peppy as I would like but it gets going when the gas goes to the floor. Spent last night towing a friend across town kinda funny when I decided to stomp on the gas and break the tires loose. Sad when you cant get traction at 15 MPH with a fnord probe latched on the back.

Pulled the accessories off the front of the Jimmy to put the serpentine setup on it. Hit the alternator bracket with some polish to see if I wanted to do both of them, decided not to at this time.
