How do I get these apart
I was putting my ignition together. I put the Key thing (arrow A) into the ignition swith (arrow B), but now I can't get the bezel over the key thing to thread it onto the ignition swith.
How do I get them apart, so I can get the bezel on Thanks

Re: How do I get these apart
put key in tumbler, turn to ACC position, insert paperclip or small allen wrench into hole on tumbler face, when you feel the spring loaded plate, press on it as you turn the key further to the left... it should pop out.
Install switch in truck with chrome bezal, THEN install the tumbler. |

Re: How do I get these apart
Just a guess but I think you need to take the back side off. The part that the key goes in, should have a jesus clip on the back side. Holding it in place. Or there is a small hole that you need to stick a punch in. Pushing down a spring loaded clip. Use the key to pull the cylinder out, while having it pressed.
I have never taken one of these apart, but I have had many locks apart. I can't imagine this being much different. Anyone else? Edit* My second guess was right, he beat me to it haha. Last edited by joedoozer; 03-05-2008 at 08:39 AM. Reason: Added another line |

Re: How do I get these apart
Is is possible that I have put the key thing in backwards? because I do not feel a spring inside the inner hole.

Re: How do I get these apart
not possible. You turned it counter clockwise to the ACC position first, right?

Yes, then I put the small allen wrench into the hole, but feel the side of the tumbler, if I move the key back to the off position I find a hole, but no spring. I'm about to give up but this is key the same a my doors. AAARRRRRRR

Re: How do I get these apart
Did you put it in the hole on the face? (this is the one you want)...not that one in your picture (you dont want that one) The first couple times you do this its a little tricky.
