Engine Sputter
I have a moderate built 283 ci in my 69 C-10 pickup. Roller valvetrain and cam. Of course I have no torque with this engine, but when I jump on the gas pedal, when get between 45 and 55mph it starts to sputter and spit until I get past that, then it goes smooth again. Could that be rejetting?

Re: Engine Sputter
I have an edelbrock 1406, just change the springs in the metering rod from long grey ones to the blue short ones. Have not drove it yet.

Re: Engine Sputter
Just drove my truck yesterday for the first time since March. Changed the springs on the edelbrock 1406, new plugs and MSD wires.
When I jusp on it I still have the same problem, sputters and spits. If I just give it gas like on the freeway and acelerate slowly to go faster. it does not sputter. |

I step on the pedel from a standing start it takes off then the faster I go it spits and craps out the tail pipe, (pop pop), not loud like a backfire, but just like its missing or something. Maybe misfiring? |

Re: Engine Sputter
Checked the fuel filter? How old is the fuel pump in it? What about the timing?

Re: Engine Sputter
I just changed the fuel pump and filter in Febuary. Timing might be the cause. I need a timing light. Or could my 10 year old 283 is just getting tired?
