4 speed tranny

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hey guys I have the opportunity to purchase an sm465 4 speed tranny off of a local guy, he seems to be on the up and up. price is 100 bones. he never drove the truck the tranny was in so don't really know if it shifts out good or not. he welcomes me to open it up and check the gears and all out but I don't know what the hell I'm looking for not a tranny expert. Is it worth getting or should I stay away? oh yea and will it bolt right on to my 250 inline?

Re: 4 speed tranny

unless you plan to do some HEAVY DUTY, LOW SPEED towing, don't bother. The only thing you get with the sm465 is a granny 1st gear. Unless you have tranny trouble, I say don't bother.

Re: 4 speed tranny

i doubt its hurt just because i have only seen 3 in my life that were, i have one, its unfun to drive but very tough and dependable, if you already have a tranny i might save up for a 5 speed CONVO just my input
