Best place to find a used carb?
What is the best place to find a used carb? I am looking for a use 600cfm edelbrook (I hear that is the way to go) but all the places that sell rebuilt ones want 175+...a new is just a little more.
What do you think is the best fuel efficient carb? Where do you think is the best place to find good carbs cheap?

Re: Best place to find a used carb?
The best fuel efficient carb is a Weber, properly tuned.
The best stock carb for a V-8 is a Quadrajet. The best all around carb for a small V-8 is probably the 600cfm Edelbrock or the 450cfm Holey. For a 6 cyl, the factory 2bbl is great, but it doesn't work on early models. But watch the cost. You have to drive a long way to make back the cost of Webers + intake + tune time. |

I see a lot of carbs come and go on Craigslist... usually between $50 and $100... Edelbrocks are real easy to work with too if you gotta rebuild it...

Re: Best place to find a used carb?
I had an Edelbrock on my 383 and never had much luck with it... I swapped for a quadrajet and got good mileage, but less power. I finally swapped on a vacuum secondary 750 Holley and am very pleased with it... A 600CFM vac. secondary would be my choice for a 350, although some of my buddies have had very good luck with Holley two barrels also. They are certainly the easiest to work on...

Re: Best place to find a used carb?
I just picked up a 1406 (600cm elect choke) and a 2101 performer manifold for 120.0 off of craigslist.
You can try Ebay too but watch out for the shiping charges

You could also subscribe and post a WTB on the board. BTW if this turns into a WTB (or people start offering to sell you something) this thread will go away, just a heads up.
