Nuts, Bolts and Washers Thread

I have spent the last week scouring the FAQ boards for answers to a lot of my questions, and saved threads as i went on my way.

ALOT OF GOOD info there, however, i saw nothing on the Size bolts and nuts folks on here might need while doing a rebuild.
Short of going to a borad sponsor or vendor, there really is not much info on the subject.

For example, i recently went to the local hardware store and picked up what I thought i needed for my bed to be mounted properly, and i must say it looks as though i did the right thing. Its not the exact right hardware, but its good.

BED MOUNTING:

8-7/16 x 5.5" bolts with the round head

8-1/4" thick X 2"(dia) rubber washers

8-Lock washers

8-Big washers

8-7/16 nuts

And i recently asked a vendor about Cab Mounting (bolts only) and he was nice enough to share with me the following:

2 - 7/16" x 5.1/2" Bolts

2 - 2.1/2" washers

But what about Front Clip?

Inner Fender

Outer Fender

Radiator Support

Grille

ETC, ETC.... You guys get the picture, now can some of you guru's come in and tell us (or correct me) about the rest of the stuff?

many years ago my father tought me if i needed 8bols for a job to buy 16 or 20 same with washers nuts lockwashers etc i'll also go in and buy hardeware just to have it in stock// many many times at 2am and in the middle of a project stores closed ,its nice to just go thru one of the containers and find whatt you need to complete a job

I agree, i have an old metal pail (sp?) full of misc bolts and nuts... Its good to have.

I just ordered a bunch of stuff from mane's and it came in yesterday, but the regular joe can go to the Hardware/Parts/Ripoff Giant(lowes) and get his own hardware. I want this thread to be a reference for those people who may have lost the stock bolts, or the truck may not have come with them... You get the drift?

if a person has one bolt of each size and a tape measure and is reasonably intelligent that person wouldnt really need a "guide" to figure out what bolts are needed to put something together

Contact Ron at this store . He has tons of what ever you may need. Also Could pm Teeitup....... Am sure he will have any nut or bolt you need and or parts too. Visit parts forsale. These wizzards will help you out.

I agree it's a good idea. I bought most of my frame bolts 3/8" Grade8 from Tractor Supply. They sell them in bulk and are waaay cheaper. I know that most body bolts are 3/8" or 5/16" but haven't labeled them all. I know that door hinge bolts are fine thread as well. All others so far are course. I'll try keeping track when I bolt it all back together over the next few months...

Try Doc's house of bolts. Last truck I did, I took the bed apart for paint. I wanted polished stainless hardware, so I gave him all the sizes of the bolts for a metal bed floor and he fixed me up. He said he might offer that as a kit and he has lots of other kits for 67-72s.

Amazing that every person who posted missed the whole point of this fellows thread. He wanted to make a list of sizes of nuts/bolts for the truck. He wasn't looking for places to buy the hardware...

Someone asked about premade kits.There are kits available.I know Tim Christian carries the ones for the front fenders(J nuts and all).I think he carries some others.Not exactly an answer to the question that started this thread but someone asked.
