Re: Q-jet vs. Holley

I am a big q jet fan. As far as I am concerned, they are the next best thing to fuel injection.

Advance and Auto Zone have a q-jet remaned by holly. I have a couple of these, all worked great right out of the box. At $184 the price is right.

Re: Q-jet vs. Holley

QJ here. most stock 4 brl QJ's are putting out 800 or 950 CFM. They are more complicated, but when set right, they will scream

Sounds like you have decided to roll your sleeves up and do it yourself? Awsome! There is a lot of info on the web about the q jet. google it and you will find most all of the info you will need to rebuild it and tune it. If you have any questions, you can PM me and I'll help you out.

Re: Q-jet vs. Holley

I would rebuid the Q-Jet if it ran good before. I would not by a remanned Holley though. If you ever decide to go with a Holley, get a new one.

Re: Q-jet vs. Holley

yea you can get alot of power from the qjet because back in the day most people bought a car and junked the qjet and switched it to a holly so many of the qjets still have the same jets in them as when they was new so i would put some bigger jets in it and check the numbers to get the correct cfm number

Re: Q-jet vs. Holley

I used to adjust my q-jet by turning each screw till it stopped lightly then backing out 1.5 turns each.

Seemed to me like it worked like a charm.

Re: Q-jet vs. Holley

carb? your engine dont need a carb, run a fuel solenoid into the intake manifold to a toggle switch. spray when ya wanna go, thats how im gonna run mine. carbs are like $200 dollars and up. save that money for something useful and necessary like a jl amp or subs. thats what i would do

Re: Q-jet vs. Holley

I honestly dont like either. If the Q-Jet is built by Carter...I will use it. I have had way too many problems with Holley. I use Edelbrock Performer carbs. I like them the best. Straight out of the box no problems. Yeah they are more money...but very well worth it.
