LED tailights

Clasic Parts, https://www.classicparts.com/searchprods.asp has LED tailights, both clear and red. The price seems reasonable.

(1967-72) LED Taillamp Lens-Fleetside/Blazer-Reproduction
Product : 49-236L
Price : $29.95

Re: LED tailights

Wow, that is cheap for LED's. I paid $260 For LED taillights for my Tahoe, that is a good deal, i would get the red, it is a more original look than the Clear, it would blend in too much with the reverse lights.

Re: LED tailights

Still is $200 cheaper than the taillights for my tahoe, but then again, they are much simpler, too.

Re: LED tailights

Those LED'S are very big and only cover half the lens. I have seen them and even bought a set at the Myrtle Beach car show for a friends truck. Personally I didn't like them but...
I haven't ever seen the clear ones. Has anybody got a set hooked up with pictures for us.

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: LED tailights

the clear ones have probably been discontinued.
I think the original maker of these used to be a board member. (not the guy who sells the real expensive ones either) If i recall right, he said that when he went for a DOT aproval, they told him not to light up the lower reflective portion.

Re: LED tailights

OK, I ordered the clear LED lights, total cost with shipping was $67.85. They should be here by Wednesday. I'll keep you posted. The pic looks like the bottom portion is not LED, it is the reflector. It looks like there are 5 rows with 4 LED's per row from the top of the reflector to the top of the lens. That should be plenty bright. When I made the original post, I had just received the notice from them that they were available, so we will see.

Re: LED tailights

Does anyone have a blue dot lens (I know they're illegal in most states) with an LED panel behind the lens (not part of the lens)? I know where to get the lenses and the panels, just wondering if anyone else has done that...

And yes, that's a great price! I paid $75 for my stepside LED's. They're just like those, the LED's are part of the lens. They work GREAT!

That's just what I want!

Where did you get the lenses? Or did you drill a set of stock lenses (I'm afraid of drilling a new set of lenses.) Is it all one piece, or is it a lens with an LED panel behind it?

Re: LED tailights

I am running a set of the red. The lights are really bright and the reflectors on the bottom are great. I tried to take some pictures at night and I had to turn off the flash because of the reflectors. I did not buy them because LEDs are cool but because I wanted the cars behind me to know when I was applying the brakes.

You can also paint the inside of your buckets white for even more light output!

Re: LED tailights

I have a set of these as well (red from musclerodz) and they are very bright.

I used chrome paint for the inside of my buckets. It doesn't make a difference with the LEDs. but it sure helps with the incandecents though
