three on the tree is sloppy as can be!
i'm looking for a good way to tighten up the rod linkage from the column shifter to the trans on my 69 C10.. i haven't been able to find bushings for it and haven't had much luck with making anything that works well. the main source of the sloppyness is where the rods connect to the trans. the pins on the rods have holes for cotter pins in lieu of threads and are about half the diameter of the hole in the linkage on the trans. i'm going to try cutting down skateboard bushings and threading the end of the pins in the rods... not sure how well it'll work though. anyone got any bright ideas or know of a source for parts? LMC doesn't have 'em

Aren't these still available through Chevy parts dept. I know I bought some a couple of years ago.

I had an original 64 Impala 2 door with Three on the Tree. Same thing happened to me. New bushings kit from a Chevy parts place and your done. Do not cut anything, when you buy the kit it becomes perfect again.

Usually after replacing the bushings & still it locks up between 1st & 2nd you adjust the tube for more tension. If you run out of room then the shifting tube is worn too much inside the column.

I saw it on the board sometime, that the rubber bushing that fits the automatic column is still available, don't know if it would be aftermarket or GM but it is supposed to fit the 3 speed linkage, don't know if top an bottom bushings are the same on that, but they are supposed to fit. might be worth a shot, might want to do some research, I can't verify that is true though.

Anytime I had a problem with mine,I just wiggled the linkages and all was good again.I'd rather have my 3spd on the tree back then have a Th350.The only reason I swapped it out was so my g/f could drive the truck.
