Headers and Flowmasters
My truck has a 330 HP GM crate motor that is great. I added some Hooker Competition headers and the muffler shop is adding 40 series Flowmasters with 2 1/2 inch pipe and equalizer pipe before the mufflers. I am wondering about how much extra horsepower I will realistictly get out of this combo. May I say that the headers alone on the truck were loud It sounded so loud last night that my neighbors thought someone got shot haha

Re: Headers and Flowmasters
extra compared to open headers? anywhere from 5-20. mainly backpressure which helps acceleration.

Re: Headers and Flowmasters
I had 2 left half stock manifolds and I didnt even know it until I pulled them last night. It was running crappy with them they always came loose at the collecter. Im sure it will run better now.

Re: Headers and Flowmasters
I'd go a little higher on a guess, given that the GMPP engines usually *expect* headers and say 25-30 FWHP.

Re: Headers and Flowmasters
You are absolutely right about the motor expecting headers. The manual it came with said to use headers with at least 2 1/4 pipe if my mind serves me correct, The 2 1/2 and the flows and Hookers are a great combo my heavy Chevy gets up and moves the 6000 lbs quickly and loudly !!! I love it ! I even got a thumbs up on the freeway as I passed up a Mopar as I floored it

Re: Headers and Flowmasters
My suspension is all stock 2WD on a 3/4 ton. I had no clearance issues with the full length headers. They do ride lower than the lower A arms but my truck is stock height so thats not a problem. These are not a good choice for slammed or bagged trucks. My muffler guy did a great job of running a clean set up I ended up pointing them out the side behind the tires

Re: Headers and Flowmasters
the rear suspension is stock leafs he went over the axle. I didnt get the equalizer pipe "x" because then my driveshaft would be a pain to get out if I needed to

Re: Headers and Flowmasters
That looks like a pretty nice setup. It tucks up in there pretty good.
