bagging a stock 68

I've searched like crazy on this site for a while but i'm still confussed. I've tried asking the Dodge guys but i'm getting no help there. I figured i'd have nothing to loose by making a new post here.

I have 68 3/4 ton long bed Dodge. I'm wanting to bag this truck & get it as low as possible without cutting into the bed. I'm not sure where to start with this build. My biggest concern is how to drop the front. The truck has a straight axel and i'm not looking to replace the front frame or axel. I feel lost as ever when it comes to all this.

I do know i need an axel flip kit (i'm assuming these are universal) for the back. I know i can take 3 short leafs out of the rear. After that I'm lost. Does anyone have detailed pics of the flip kit install? What do you think i should do about the front? How do i avoid bump steer because thats all the Dodge guys keep talking about. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

i dont know how you would bag a straight axle.. ive seen it done one time but it was some crazy custom deal. other then that i think you have to do IFS

You could four link or do some radius rods to the front axle and bag it that way, I've seen some rodders do that.

Just put that tennessee sticker on a chevy and call it good, go big orange!! sorry i couldnt be of any help.

best method would to build radius rods to locate the axle from the rear spring mounts, then you will have to create a panhard bar and brackets to keep the whole setup from shifting left and right. (the leafs did that before.) keep in mind that the panhard bar should be as close to horizontal as possible at ride height to eliminate the arc of its travel causing left and right movement during suspension travel. or you could do a four link set up like new 4x4 dodges to locate the axle, engineering better caster change through suspension travel but that would require a lot more engineering. all kinda depends on your level of expertise and fabrication skills.
Keep in mind modifications on that end of the truck need to be exact and solid, that is the end that points you in the right direction and also takes more pounding(carries more weight more of the time since most trucks are empty most of the time.).

Thanks guys. Trust me, if that truck wasn't a father/son project & the fact that i promised my dad i'd never sell it, i would deffinetly get rid of it and pick up a chevy... I asked a fellow dodge guy and he said make brackets to put the axel over top of the leafs up front. It sounds like he is saying to do the exact same thing to front as an axel flip kit in the back. How do guys think that would play out?

I'd love it on the ground but i'm not trying to cut into the bed and with the Dana 60, that pumpkin is hudge! I'm going to try and get it as low as possible with out changing front ends. I'm not worried about the back cause thats pretty basic but i'm stumped on the front end.

do you got fab skills. if so put a sub frame out of say a camaro under it? or what about magnum axle company . they mite make something

the main reason i don't want to do a new frame cause i don't have the skills/knowledge to do one. I've located a dodge guy that slammed his truck. i'll post pics to see what you guys think of it.
