Body Filler Questions?

Can someone recommend a good body filler at a decent price. I came across USC Feather-Rite Auto Body Filler, USC Pro-7 Premium Lightweight Filler, Marson Platinum Plus Premium Gold Lightweight Filler, Metal-2-Metal Aluminum Reinforced Filler. There are so many body fillers, which one would be good to use. Quick drying time and easily sanded.

Re: Body Filler Questions?

i use metal to metal that is made by ever coat. It was suggested to me by a long time body guy and seems to be working well so far. i'm just using it for the body work stuff, and will cover it in so sort of light filler before paint.

.. with Levi. I use Metal 2 Metal for all critical areas and regular filler for touch up. Metal 2 Metal will not absorb moisture like regular fillers will. That's what my bodyman/buddy says anyway....

Re: Body Filler Questions?

Body fillers are like everything else you get what you pay for! That being said Ive had excellent results with USC brand fillers. And they wont absorb moisture if you epoxy prime first ,fill, sand, epoxy prime again the key not leaving your work exposed in humid conditions if you have humid conditions (as in western Washington) work one panel at a time and get it sealed up before moving on to another panel. If you can afford to heat your work space that is a big plus but nowdays its costly!

Re: Body Filler Questions?

Suville.......which UCS filler do you use for fixing dents in door panels? You said to epoxy prime first, then fill, sand, and epoxy prime again. Also, what is a good epoxy prime?

Welcome aboard! Unfortunately this is exactly how many of us learned what we know and have in the process become quite biased in our opinions. When you preform work for others your reputation dictates you do what works and there are NO SHORTCUTS! They will bite you in the backside! The same can be said for "bargain priced" products.

Re: Body Filler Questions?

cheap and good do not go together when discussing fillers. i use All-Metal, which is like Metal-to-Metal for deeper problems and near edges. Once in primer, I use only Rage Extreme.

Re: Body Filler Questions?

I like USC "Feather-rite" Ive also used Evercoat "Rage" and one called "Basecoat clearcoat" not recalling the brand manufacture of this one comes in a raspberry red can ??????? sorry I cant be more specific on this one. As for primer I'm a Dupont fan however most any top line will have very good products. One thing you want to keep in mind is customer service if and when a problem rears its ugly head and in the painting game it will believe me you will need the help and advise of a qualified paint rep. Just as buying replacement body panels from a vendor that "builds " also so what he sells will work with the least amount of modifying so it is with paint and body work, that is the reason I use Dupont their reps are very knowledgeable on the product line thats not to say there the only game in town but do some research around your area go to the top body shops and talk to the painters and body men they will be able to give you their recommendation as to who they prefer to work with. Hope this is of sum help to yall!
