New Exhaust---FINALLY
Took the truck in to have a new exhaust put on. Finally rid of that leaky rusty pos. 2 1/4 pipes with Thrush mufflers w/ 3" inlet/outlet. A little louder than I was looking for...but I LIKE IT!!!

Re: New Exhaust---FINALLY
Looks nice. I am in the market for new exhaust too. Can I ask how much the Thrush mufflers go for? Thanks.

Nice dude. I am getting mine done soon too and I can't wait.
If you don't mind me asking, what did it cost you?

Re: New Exhaust---FINALLY
Which muffler are you using? Is it louder because of the mufflers or because of the side exit in front of the rear tires?

Re: New Exhaust---FINALLY
i've been doing exhaust for over 23 years and my own worst critic but i do our trucks totally different, the mufflers and pipes should be hidden--not visible from the side. it looks nice but hangs way too low, you can go over the trans crossmember with the front pipes tuck the mufflers inside the framerails for a much cleaner look.

Re: New Exhaust---FINALLY
[\/] ike:
The mufflers -Thrush Welds-were $65 each Jakes 68GMC: He let me try the turbos then the welds, and the welds seemed a bit louder, but much lower tone, that was with only the head pipe, but no tail pipe. 72BlckButy: Good old Rams Horns. Jugernot: (Which?, see above)mainly from the mufflers, had a "stock Midas" job before from a PO. More noticeable with it in front of the wheels. And under the cab location. The Welds are copys of the orig. 40 Series, since the pat. lapsed. Jerry: I agree, woulda looked cleaner that way, but didn't think about that part that much. Forgot, there was a reason, as it is, it is very easy to remove in one piece. Just drop straight down. chevychase: Thanks. Houp: Don't know how his price compares, got an estimate and liked his work. Like I said above, he let me hear a couple options( in my price range) before the final instal. Was $380.

Re: New Exhaust---FINALLY
Looks good though, I was thinking about switching out my Thrush turbos for a pair of Thrush weldeds, but I don't know how much louder theyd be in the cab then the turbos.

Re: New Exhaust---FINALLY
I love the sound of Thrush Turbos with a pair of 3" tips on 2 1/4" pipes....I hear them everyday whilst driving my '70.
