Help!! My steering wheel is sticky! What do I do?
I just bought this saddle tan 3 bar and It's sticky I always thought I had the fix for this because in the past I've just washed them real good with some go jo or fast orange hand cleaner but I've scrubbed this one with gojo, fast orange, hand soap and dish washing soap but it is still sticky.Does anybody have another trick I can try??
Thanks in advance Mike |

Steering wheel cover? -have you tried any solvents? Something should work to dissolve whatever is on that wheel, you just haven't found it yet.

Scrubbing bubbles has worked pretty good for me in the past. You might have to do it more than once..........And you still may have to install a cover.

The problem is I would be cautious about anything too strong. That said,I know Spray 9 or laquer thinner would work.Maybe do that and immediately wash with milder soap. Also Lestoil or Pinesol cut through sticky, like from gummy adhesive from stickers.Just do that rise-wash right after with soap.

I used to have one and just washed it in the dishwasher with cascade. The really hot water seemed to cut the sticky off

Quote:
i got 2 of those steering wheels but they came off of olds cars the other one i used greased lightning just keep it wet and let it set a few mins and take a dish washing brush ( mid stiffness one) and scrub it and rinse rinse rinse and then rinse it again and wipe it dry if ya dont keep it wet it may stain the metal and discolor the pad on both wheels i had to do that (both wheels ) a few times over a year or so and then one day they just quit gettin sticky |

Re: Help!! My steering wheel is sticky! What do I do?
Id be very careful using thinners or solvents, most steering wheels are of some form or another plastic, vinyl composition and you can mess it up. I have the same problem but its only in hot weather soooooo? been wondering what would work for this myself, guess I'll stay tuned for the rest of the story!

Googone works good, and it is mild.
