Re: 327 in a 4x4
If it runs good in your parts truck, it will run good in a 4-by.
I would not hesitate to use an engine like that with an RV cam. However, if it wouldn't be my 1st choice for a truck with 36's --- there's no substitute for cubic inches when it comes to making torque to move a set of 36's (4:56 gears might be even better with 36's too)

Re: 327 in a 4x4
I knew a guy with a`77 K/3500 with 38s and he wasn`t afraid to wheel that thing pretty hard. This was in about 1980/81.It was a 4spd and he had a built 283 in it.I was with another guy in a`79 Ford F350/400/4spd trying to ply "follow me".The Ford could do it.That Jimmy tore him a new...you know the rest. That K3500 was climbing a hill on a powerline and he torqued it so much the clutch pivot dropped out.Tractores don`t have large engines. It`s all about the gears.

Re: 327 in a 4x4
327s are a very "oversquare" engine (bore far larger than stroke) so they make power much higher in the RPM range; they're an HP engine vs. a torque engine. Keep the RPM up and it'll be fine.
