Gas Gauge problems-
I having some gas gauge problems; Problem one, my needle fell off of the gauge and I got it back on. I put a new sending unit in because I couldn't get the gauge to read correct, its off. I let my truck run out of gas so I could tell where a empty tank would be. I then placed the needle to empty, I went and had ten gals of gas put in, it nows reads a full tank and and half. How do I get this read correct?

Re: Gas Gauge problems-
My guess would be the new sending unit is a different ohm than the gas gauge, could of been the problem previously too. The stock gauge is 90 ohms and the sending unit should be the same.

Re: Gas Gauge problems-
When you disconnect the wire from the tank w/ key on it should drop to E. If that is true you could ensure U have a good GRD by adding a wire to each the gage panel & sending unit. Retrace wire from tank to dash. Only if you have the correct 90 OHM sending unit & gage.

Re: Gas Gauge problems-
Does it matter where you place the needle if it fell off? Does the gauge reset itself if this happens. I thinking I don't have the needle in the correct postion

Re: Gas Gauge problems-
Yes the clocking location does matter.
You can index it with a full or empty tank. Put some dielectric grease on the lead wire that plugs into the sending unit. Also clean a small part of the tank behind one of the mounting bolts and threads for a good ground for correct resistance.
