I can't get my AM/FM radio to work cept at idle...
soooo thinking it could be voltage regulator, I checked the charging voltage at the battery and WHOLLY SMOKES 16.4 volts. (no wonder my lights have been so bright)... so I replaced the voltage regulator with a good spare I had laying around and I STILL have the same result... 16.4 volts and my radio still wont work... so I pulled my radio and tested it on my test bench and It works as long as the voltage doesnt exceed 13.6 volts.... sooooo.... next I took my voltage at the fuse block and sure enough 16.4 volts...
Anyone else have this issue???? I have seen and read plenty about not having enough charging voltage, but nothing about too much.... any ideas???? --Mike

Re: I can't get my AM/FM radio to work cept at idle...
I had an 85 Dodge truck that one night I went out to start it and when I turned on the lights it was like flash bulbs going off. The radio started smoking...tail lights went real bright and then blew...dash lights went crazy...but the truck was running. Weird thing was I had 11.64 at the battery. Didnt go any further into checking what was going on. I just decided to junk that troublesome truck.

Could it be the battery? Do you have another to try?

Re: I can't get my AM/FM radio to work cept at idle...
i had voltage issues so i changed out the voltage regulator with the high dollar one, and i still had issues. so i took it back and got the cheeper one and wala no problems with voltage.
