Who's got posi?
So I wanna have some short of posi or locked rear end. I dont mind extra tire wear or noise. I found a local guy that can weld my current setup for 60 bucks. Minus the tire wear and noise what are the drawbacks to welding? Am I going to break something else or should everything hold up just fine? Also what are you guys runnin and how much did it cost you?

Re: Who's got posi?
unless its 100 % offroad welded rear is total Getto !! buy a locker for offroad or a posi unit for onroad use.

Re: Who's got posi?
Try is system, cost is lower than a posi unit and you can install it yourself.

Re: Who's got posi?
If you are driving it on the road, DO NOT weld it. Things break.

Re: Who's got posi?
A "Lincoln" locker will cause more than tire wear.It will break stuff, expensive stuff. It will get you pulled over for "Excessive Tire Squeal"It will cuase wheel hop on corners and possibly in the rain.I wouldn't even do it on a trail only rig.
As stated before it is Ghetto and dangerous.

Re: Who's got posi?
This is gona sound real...but how do you know if you've got posi? and while i'm in the mood for letting everyone on here know i'm a complete dunce what does 12 bolt rear mean also? I know I have one and it's in the rear it said so in the advertising blurb for my truck when I bought it and why is it better than a 10 bolt.

12-bolt is how many bolts are floating around in the rear and still driveable.13 bolts and it`s time to fix.Amazing machines, these GM trucks. Seriously,it`s how many bolts that are in the ring gear.Coincidently,it`s also the amount of bolts in the rear cover.

Re: Who's got posi?
Alright so what posi unit should I go with? Clutch or gear style? I think I will have the ring and pinion gears swapped out when I get the posi installed so should I get a 3.73 or 4.11? The truck is used for around town and occasional freeway driving. I wanna be able to run down the quarter mile without running out of gear. The truck has a turbo 350 in it now.
