Antennas

Gotta replace my antenna eventually. Anyone using anything other than a factory one? What about filling the antenna hole and using one of the "in-the-windshield" ones? Custom billet? Boomerang? What ya got??

Re: Antennas

Here's the imfamous Ultra-Rare Corvette Option (RPO#OU812) hood mounted antenna. They had to do this because the HI PERF ambulance engines that came with the Corvette option had so much torque that the antenna would break the windshield on hard launches.

Its the only way I can deal with being the new owner of the famous hood antenna truck. I'm secretly crying on the inside!

Re: Antennas

I have temporarily put a cheapo powered windshield one from O'reilly's. I think I paid around $20 or so for it. Works pretty good in town and the outskirts - at least in my area- but once you get out of town it's iffy.. Not bad for the price though.

btw: I mounted it on the center of the rear window just below the dome light. Then I routed the wiring inside the top of the cab (same dome light hole), down the rear passenger side, along the door bottom (channel) and up the right hand side kick panel area.

ANTENNA'S - ANTENNA (AMPLIFD WINDW AM/FM)
Item No: AWUA200

forgot to add: had to do some solder splicing for antenna cable length...

Re: Antennas

I have no exterior antenna. Wasn't really sure if the truck had one factory or not. Did they all? I'm using a window mount antenna that i have snaked under the floor rubber, behind the bench and stuck to the passenger side pillar next to the rear window. not noticeable, but i only get 1.5 stations. I use the tape adapter with the I-pod though. My dad used to have a early 70's Ram with a z'd antenna. Always reminded me of ZZ-Top.

Re: Antennas

I got my stainless fixed-mast antenna (and a bunch of other stuff) in 1992 from Flow Chevrolet of Winston-Salem, NC. At that time they had a restoration center with parts for older GM vehicles, and some very helpful people. Dunno if they are still in that business, though the dealership is still there. 888-550-3569

Only p/n on my invoice says L21A Antenna GS.

Put this retractable in so I didn't have to put a hole in my cover. The hole was already in the fender not a stock location.
