Project truck pics
Well here is my 67 short stepside. I bought this truck 2 1/2 years ago and I think I am ready to start bringing it to life. I ran the block numbers and it is either a 230 or 250 ci inline six. Manual tranny rigged on the floor. Has rust that was duct taped (no bs) along the door sills. I plan on swapping the cab to big window cab. I would love to put in a big block but my wallet (wife) wont allow that for awhile. What kind of power can the 6 banger put out ? In the long run I want my son to be able to drive this to High School and enjoy it like he does my 72. Wish me luck. I am a tile guy/handyman with some mechanical abilities (at least I like to think so) This will probly take 3+ years I hope that soon.

Re: Project truck pics
Thats a good looking watch dog I see in that picture! I agree that's a good looking project. Looks like it's got good bones. At least with a six banger you will get a little better mpg than a BB.

Re: Project truck pics
Looks like a pretty good start. I wish you the best!
As far as the six, if it's a 250...well. With only bolt on items,. such an intake and headers (if you're looking to go that in depth) they make enough power to scoot ya along. Numbers wise...no idea. But don't under estimate the six, especially if it's running and driving at the moment. Also, find yourself a rebuildable core big block, and hang on to. slowly accumulate parts, and have you son do an overhaul in highschool. Practice for him, along with a grade, not to mention an engine in the process, which is spread out over a period of time so your "wallet" isn't so discouraged. -Sam.

Re: Project truck pics
I like it, look great. The little 6 can scoot you along pretty good, and is decent on gas, being 18 myself my vote would say rebuild/rework the 6 for your son (he will appreciate the gas mileage vs. the BB). I'm not sure about what was done to the six in my truck, it was done by the PO, i think he mentioned an RV cam, flat tops for a 327(same bore size?), and it has headers. Mine holds it's own against most things.
