Is it possible to get drop spindles for drum brakes? I know everyone is going to say switch to disk,but i really like my 6 bolt ralleys,and the 67 chevy that i used to own had power drum brakes that would put you through the windshield! Any thoughts?

I've never seen them and I'm quite certain they aren't made. You can get modded lower a-arms for drum brakes, but they are pretty expensive to buy IIRC.

Go with 6 bolt drop disc spindles. A lot of vendors sell them. I agree that power drum brakes will lock the brakes, but that is not always good. I have trouble controlling my 68 with power drum brakes. Usually when I have to stop real quick they tend to lock up too quickly. I think discs would be better in that area.

I wanted to keep my truck a 6 lug so I went with the 6 lug disc swap. The set up has not been that hard so far.

got the McGaughy's 2.5 drop, 6 lug disc brake/spindles on my rig. I was quite happy with the fit, finish, and price!

I got mine from Tim Christian(site Vendor).I can't remember the cost but it worked great.I had an issue with the front springs though.I had installed the passenger side spindle and all.Whaen I dropped the old sppindle off the Ball joint on the drivers side the spring came out in 3 pieces.That was Thurs afternoon about 4:00.I called Tim and asked if he had new stock height springs.His reply I have them in stock and i'm boxing up wheels to ship right now so I will get your springs out,too.I figured I was held up until Mon. but Fri about 4:00 when I got home they were on the porch.
There are several write ups in the suspension forum to give you a better idea of what you're getting into if you've never done a spindle before.It's a good refresher even if you have.

UH OH!!! I'm a CNC programmer and die and mold maker, so I better take a close look at it. Don't know if can take the word of ya'll "if I can draw it on autocad, it be made, right?" guys!!!

You gotta excuse me, I have been butting heads with an engineer that decided to make a "revision" on the dump grooves of a seal mold last week that we have making for over 10 years. His revision was to intended to lengthen the life of the mold because as the chrome plating and the lands on the cavity wear they leave a little bigger parting seam and eventually begin to leave flashing. His big idea was to make a staggered double sealing land that would seal better after it wore because there were 2 sealing surfaces. To do this, the original size of the land had to be reduced by almost 50% in width. Knuckle draggin machinist here said it would wear out twice as fast if the land was twice the size, but I was wrong. The mold was scrapped in about 10 or 12 parts.

The pressure of the molding process was too much on the .05mm land, and it just rolled over causing the second so called sealing surface to fail instantly. You think I'm gloating a little? You bet I am!

I know what your talking about. I started out my career as a designer on Autocad and Pro/E. I did my time in the trenches and now at 37 I am school (again) to get my BS in mechanical engineering.

HOWEVER I have never forgot, or stop listening to the machinists. they know how to do what I have in my mind!
