72 Okra (Ochre)GMC into 72 Hugger Orange/White Chevy

Well, I am trying to figure out how to post pics in the thread so until I do Ill just tell you what Ive done and attach one pic for every day of restoration.. Last Friday I started tearing apart my 72 GMC. It was Okra with three different paint jobs underneath. We stripped the entire truck down and pulled the engine. We were working on wetsanding the truck until we discovered 7 layers of paint and primer. So, I had the whole truck sandblasted. After that we preped it for painting and a friend came down from NC this past Friday. We got the new Chevy front fenders, Repro Chevy tailgate (all from GMC Pauls), and the bottom of the hood painted Hugger Orange. We also painted the inside of the cab but only shot one coat of clear in it. We were going to finish painting on Sat but we ran into some body problems that need fixing first. We should all regroup back at the shop aroung thanksgiving When I return from a school in the UK and my brother returns home from Afghanistan to finish the paint. Until then I am going to replace the doors and hood so that the finish paint will look as good on those parts as it does on the aftermarket parts we already shot. I have the original two front fenders, hood, grille, radiator support, and front bumper if anybody needs them. Ill post more pics when I get this picture deal figured out.

So when are you going to be through with it? I'd like to know when I can come pick it up. It's looking nice and can't wait to see it finished. Welcome to the board and keep up the good work.

Wow, that is going to be pretty slick when you are done. Looks like you started with a good solid truck. The cab looks perfect!!

You have done more in five days than I did in six months!!

PS - Okra is a green vegetable (it's great fried!!). Ochre is an earthy yellow color.
