Restoration steps?
So I'm at the point where everything is off but the cab and the engine so im thinking from here i should do all this:
remove cab and engine shorten frame powdercoat frame/axle buy new brakes, suspension, power steering, etc. powdercoat engine block, do whatever work needs to be done to it. buy new transmission buy sheet metal floor, firewall, rockers, start working on the cab once the cab is finished and primed, install new cab supports install new doors and line up and adjust take cab off, get the inside painted install electrical and dash components make sure the truck starts buy 67 front end, install and align as needed buy new box, install sides, front and rear, adjust if necessary take the front end off, get it painted, reinstall same thing with the box have i missed anything? obviously it isnt this easy but i just need to make sure i dont miss any steps |

Re: Restoration steps?
Just my opinion, I would say take the time to "smooth" out the engine block. Just sandpaper to make it have a nice smooth texture. We had a block come into the machine shop with that work done to it. It looked amazing. Hell, I almost wish I would have taken a picture of it. Lots of time involved, but I say if you are going to powder coat it it would be worth it.

Re: Restoration steps?
The first thing on your list should be:
Inherit a ton of money, or win the lottery. My truck is also "disassembled", like you describe. I have amassed many new/replacement parts. The suspension is done, the truck was being driven daily (until '02) and it became an ornament in my driveway, awaiting the massive inflow of cash needed to attempt your plan. I have made a deposit on the body/paint, and am awaiting the completion of the work. Patiently at times, not so patiently at others. Now, the guy working on it has been diagnosed with lymphoma. I wonder what will happen next, and I don't want him to die from his illness, nor end up with a truck that is a running basket case. Plan your work....work your plan.
