Rhoads lifters...
i got a set... how loud are they supposed to be?
i used my old rocker arm locknuts... not a good idea... wouldn't stay adjusted... just replaced with new lock nuts... how loud is the valve train supposed to be with rhoads lifters? the instructions say about as loud as solid ones at idle... how loud is that?

its a hard sound to explain but they are not excessivly loud, they have a very distinct sound, sorry I can't type the sound

My Rhoads lifters have that slight ticking sound that solid lifter have. It is more pronounced with warm oil because it flows easier and bleeds down at idle quicker.

pop off the cover, fire it up, and loosen one up a little. If it clicks louder, then you'll know if it is the rocker arm clicking, or the lifters. If you loosen it and there is no more ticking, you probably need to tighten them all up a little.
I have them and I have not confused the 2 sounds. A light ticking is what I get, not sounding like a cummings or anything like that. ------------------ '69 G.M.C. 350/350. I am not putting them in my new motor..I just cant get used to the sound..especially when the oil is hot...dunno if its because i use synthetic, but it does sound like a cummins when its hot
