Re: P/S brackets for 292...WIW?

First, be aware that not all years are the same. You need to get a set that follows the year of the motor. There are at least 2 types depending on where your accessory holes are (I'm going to assume you aren't putting an integral head on this).

I usually get my 250 bracket sets $35-50 plus shipping. I've seen them go as high as $115 (not sure what was going on...) 292 brackets are not as common (I've only seen a couple on fleabay in the last year) so I would expect them to go higher, $75-150. Be sure you get the crank and water pump pulleys too, and the 2 groove generator pulley if you can find it. The belt goes crank wp gen ps. It probably will not clear the gen so it needs the 2nd puey to get around it.

Re: P/S brackets for 292...WIW?

I checked my parts manual, and there are two different styles of brackets for the 292. One fits 73-74, the other fits 75-84. The good news is that the brackets are all the same for pickups, vans and stepvans. As far as a price, I gave about $35 for a a complete setup for a v8, including the pump. I don't know how the salvage yards are out there, but I would get everything off of one vehicle and like D19 says, get the pulleys, bolts and studs also. I would avoid eBay as there are some spacers that are called out and are specific to 292. Hope this helps

Re: P/S brackets for 292...WIW?

i have a step van with a 292 with p/s and a few years ago one of the brackets broke and i could not find another anywhere. i found a few sets for the 75-84 engines but they would not work on mine and they were selling for $75-$100. i had to repair mine because i could not find a replacement.
