Re: anyone tell me about my truck??
I don't think there was an exception on the discs they were not avail till 1971. The 67's had the ooption of the panoramic window or large window so it was just an option if this is the original cab. Pics Please

Re: anyone tell me about my truck??
Welcome to the board!
The big rear window was an option commonly found on CST's and Customs in '67. That are less comon than the small window in '67, but not really rare. The disc brakes were defintely added. If it has factory power steering in '67, it would be the ram assisted power steering that was a carry-over from the 66 and older trucks. '67 was the only year this was offered as well as the small window and a few other oddities like carry-over vent glass locks, floor vent knobs, flush mounted key switch, and side markers to name a few.

Re: anyone tell me about my truck??
thanks guys, that's what i had thought but wasn't sure, everything i read said it did'nt exist. originally it looks to have been and tanish color with blue trim, it currently is silver with the wrong front clip on it thats in primer, which will be leaving soon in favor for the 67/68, those fancy hubcaps had to go first!!
thanks for the warm welcome, looking forward to picking some brains and helping anyone i can! here's a pic of my other toy! Last edited by kingp411; 07-17-2008 at 11:25 PM. |

Re: anyone tell me about my truck??
After looking at truck and going back and looking at your VIN#, your '67 is actually a '71. The 5th digit of the Vin denotes year on these trucks.
7- 67 8- 68 9- 69 0- 70 1- 71 2 -72 Looks like a nice '71 though!

Re: anyone tell me about my truck??
nice truck... bad nose job.!
mirrors are correct (round one's also) but shouldn't have marker lights for a 67... check the VIN on the cab and the frame (over the driver wheel on my K10)...

Re: anyone tell me about my truck??
that would suck if it's a 71, titled out as a 67, and matches the vin tag, msgross- where abouts on the frame is the vin???

I've seen that before. A buddy of mine had a '76 Nova titled as a '74. If you know Novas, the '74 and '76 are two totally different body styles. A lot of DMV's just punch in numbers and let them go. The VIN# on my tag reciept for my '69 C-30 ramp truck had a number missing and I never noticed until I went through a road block. The officer told me about it and suggested a go get it changed, but he didn't seem surprised by it!

Re: anyone tell me about my truck??
thanks for the info. i'll check that tomorrow, appreciate the help, think i'll call the last owner tomorrow too and see if he knows anything about it. good news though 68 is the last we smog inspect in nevada so being titled a 67 i don't have to worry about that, but i did think i was purchasing a 67 not a 71, live and learn!

Re: anyone tell me about my truck??
well, you can always make it look like a 67 big window pretty easily.
FInd an entire front clip for sale, hood, fenders, grille, core support (inner fenders are the same) and swap them over. Then fill in the marker lights on the rear bedsides... (front fenders too if you find a 68 clip) oh yeah, new front bumper too! Good luck, the VIN is as stated, over the drivers suspension area on the horizontal top lip of the frame. They aren't stamped very deep so you might have to clean off some paint/crud to see it. It's not the full VIN either, just the last 5 or 6 numbers I think.

Re: anyone tell me about my truck??
It may be a mix of years.I`m "creating" exactly what you have, only it`ll be a`67 GMC.I have a`71 short frame, cab, and title. It will finish out as a big window top of the line`67 GMC.If you have a power steering box mounted without spacers or the frame hasn`t been dimpled to accept one (could be hard to tell) then it`s not a`67 frame.`67 was the last year for the old-style p/s like found on cars in the`50s Vettes and other cars...ram assist as 67_C30 mentioned. If it isn`t a clarical errror on the vintage I`d guess it`s a combination like a`71 body on a`67 frame. If you are getting all these options off the SPID (label on glovebox door) then the leaf springs would be listes as an option (other than HD) if it`s a chevy frame. If it`s a GMC frame they would be standard.Mine is a Chevy Coil frame (4/6) drop.I see you have pre-71 mirrors.I wonder if those are remains of a`67.

Re: anyone tell me about my truck??
I think somewhere during 68 the newer "dimpled" frames came out, my 68 K-10 doesn't have the dimples for PS....
