BBC guys- will you measure your dipstick?

I know, I know.. im askin for it.


Im gonna order a billet dipstick for my BBC... would one of you mind giving me the length, or at least something close? I just dont wanna order one thats too short.

It was real HARD not to take the bait.

But, on my '72 BB 402, it's 21" from the tip to the little sealing thingy that keeps the crud out of the dipstick tube.

Here's something I thought about while out walking.

You also need to take the length of the dipstick tube, if you're changing it too, into consideration.
I looked, but couldn't measure mine because it drops down behind the exhaust manifold & I couldn't get my tape measure through the gap.
Maybe a skinnier tape measure..................

Spend the extra money and get a Lokar unit - the oil ring seals and CNC billet lower portion are well worth the extra cost
It will reduce the leaks you may get with a chrome lower tube that CFR uses with the ALum dipsticks

Thanks for the tip. I actually already bought it, and I'll post how well it works. I'll take some sandpaper to the contact surface on the chrome (as I do with chrome valve covers), and use a little RTV.

Thanks for the help guys. This is a little issue- I'll figure it out.
