Duramax in my truck?

I had a cool idea to put a duramax diesel engine in my truck. I dunno why, but I thought its not something you see everyday. Well I dont anyway and I want something different.

Has anyone here done or heard of someone doing this type of swap? What are the biggest modifications needed for this? Any info would be great. Its just an idea for now but well see.

Thanks

Re: Duramax in my truck?

A cummings Diesel will fit better. I think it may be easier to swap too. Search around www.youtube.com for diesels. I've seen at least one C10 with a Cummings diesel.

Re: Duramax in my truck?

yeah Ive seen a cummins in one too, but thats part of the reason I want a duramax. Ive never heard of anyone attempting this. It would be quite a challenge but awesome none the less.

I couldnt imagine the look on peoples faces when they looked under the hood or saw me stomp it on the highway to see black pour out the exhaust.

Re: Duramax in my truck?

I saw one floating around on the internet somewhere awhile back. It's not unlike any other computer controlled engine swap out there.

You don't see many of them, but it's been done before.

Re: Duramax in my truck?

another vote for the cummins..mine works very well
a duramax if done right would be pretty awesome...but i prefer the simplicty of the 12 valve cummins

I'm working on it. I've recently married (07/05/08) and we're looking at buying a house at the moment but as soon as that's taken care of, I will begin sourcing parts for my swap.

That link that was posted was awesome. I've done a LOT of research on this swap and had not ran across that. Incredible reading, though it killed a couples hours of my time. I've sent that guy an email inquiring about more pics. We shall see if he returns the email.
