Drum to Disk Conversion?

How much do I actually have to replace when converting drums to disks on a 3/4 ton 2wd? Can I just break apart the ball joints and swap the spindle assemblies? I have a donar front end but I want to keep as much of the original as possible because it is in nicer shape.

spindles swap required, reccommend swapping lower arms also due to most likely a steering stop location difference between the two trucks. also probably gonna need to swap center link bar and also tie rod ends and completely re route front brake lines and swap hoses for 71-72 ones

not sure why you are concerned with originality of truck when youre swapping discs on anyways that arent even correct for the year of truck.,

What is a center link bar? Is it the middle of piece of the tie rod assy?

I am not concerned about keeping it original, only that I use the best iron which happens to be on the drum front end. So I only want to swap what is needed.

The center link bar is the heavy bar that the tierods,idler arm, & pitman arm fasten to. You can use the original a arms, but will run into steering stop differences(this will shorten the turning radius of the truck),& will require a little grinding to fix. Parts you need.......71-up ball joints,tierods assys(inner,outer, & sleeves), centerlink,spindles/rotors,calipers, hoses ,lines,prop valve, & master cyl. The balljoints,& tierods should be the same on the 3/4 ton from 71- 86. Im not 100% positive, but the centerlink should also work 71-86........All of the 70 & older hardware was different. good luck..
