Hey Kid! Want some candy? - '71 Camper Van
Picked up this beauty and my wife keeps calling it the "Uncle Rico Van" (Napolean Dynamite referance).
I bought this and an '81 K10 together basically for thier motors/trannys. My main question is - is there anything else that I should save from this van??(As it will have a 1 way trip after I tear the motor/trans out.) 6 - 16.5" Rims? Auto Column - I'll take that Grille? Taillights? Vent Windows the same as the trucks? - Inside Door Handles/Window Cranks? Front/Rear Bumpers? Eaton/Dana Rear? Thanks, Andy

Marker lights, mirrors. axles, wheels, bumpers, frille, and emblems. Does it have buckets?

Re: Hey Kid! Want some candy? - '71 Camper Van
if the rear has a 4.10 in it, then I'd pull the 3rd member... leave the axle in there though, you'll never sell it.
Other than a few odds and ends, there isn't much there worth keeping in all reality |

I asked the wife what she thought about "Uncle Rico's Ice Cream & Candy" for a new side buisness It does nave buckets, but they don't really look like truck buckets. I'll take a picture of them so you guys can see. Thanks for the input.

How about the fuel tank and filler tube. Might make for a custom install later on a truck. If they are factory bucket seats I'd keep them.

Re: Hey Kid! Want some candy? - '71 Camper Van
All the great responses!
The K10 - Uhh there is no chassis under it, And now there is no drivetrain. It looks good in those pictures. There is no saveable sheetmetal. I stepped on the rocker panel getting in the truck and it fell off The Open Road is pretty cool! I love that AMT Model! I forgot to get pics of the seats today. The mini tri-pod mirrors are awesome - I think there is a set of chrome/stainless ones in the back somewhere. I'll grab them. The van has a big hole in the roof, and the body is Ehh as far as the rust situation. I see some scary looking spots on the upper Jamb on the sliding door. Good Idea on the Gas Tank. I happened to notices that it looked similar to a blazer tank with a long filler neck. It seems to be pretty clean as well.

That seems really odd to me, but the box has no place for lines in it either.

Paint the Van orange and roll it! Uncle Rico's traveling home on wheels. You might even get offered a "Tuperware" route.

Toss a Water bed in the van and you are ready for a night on the town.

Just thinking, once the vans make a comeback as the ultimate cool, chick magnet vehicles, just like they were back in the early 70s. You are going to kick yourself for getting rid of your van

Re: Hey Kid! Want some candy? - '71 Camper Van
Was that van air conditioned? Do you know if it had a standard GM compressor or a York? Like on the Ford's. They make great on-board air compressors because they have a oil reservoir.
