Points
I'm sure this has a thread somewhere? I need install new points (I think I do) Is there a step by step on this? I haven't done points for over 20 years! I know it is not hard just thought I would do a little read up first. I think I'll do the condenser too.

Re: Points
Personally I would convert to an electronic setup unless you are trying to keep it all original. Then I would switch to a in cap conversion that looks original but doesnt need messed with.Just my .02

Re: Points
Yes, and I think big block distributors are the same as well.

Re: Points
Nothing wrong with points. They`ve always got me home,EFI hasn`t.
To answer your question:Pull the old points and put the new ones in.Turn motor until the points are opened by one of the four lobes on the distributor shaft and set the gap.I usually spin the motor and check gap again. This is the "static" point setting instructions. It always has worked for me when I had no dwell meter.
