lifted and needs driveshafts

I got a 6'' lift kit off my brothers 72 k10. Got it on without any problems, but now the driveshafts dont reach. The truck it came off of had stock driveshafts so I assumed I could use the Blazers stock driveshafts. For the front will a k10 driveshaft fit, you think? What about the rear? Any ideas are welcome and appreciated.

Re: lifted and needs driveshafts

Ya, I was hoping this is a good place to ask. Just need some people with experience lifting these to chime in. Also thanks for the welcomes.

Re: lifted and needs driveshafts

Welcome to the board. Where's LSC? Post some pictures of your rig when you get a chance.

4" lifts are usually safe with the stock and 8" lifts all require drivelines, 6" lifts are the gray area where some require longer drivelines, others don't.

Sounds like you'll need to get them lengthened. Find a driveline shop and give them the new measurements. I've heard it should only cost around $100.

If you become a subscribing member, you could post a "wanted to buy" and possibly find some drivelines from a board member.

It's time to stop guessing.
Take the measurements and either find a set or have some lengthened to the correct dimension's.

Use a good drive-line shop that will balance the shafts as part of the process.
I paid $60.00 per for a stock set to be stretched.

Re: lifted and needs driveshafts

Well the main problem is that I am a college student with no job. That creates a real small budget for this truck. I should have a front driveshaft that will fit, it will just need new universals. But what I really want to know is if there was a stock shaft on something else that will fit?

Heres how she sat for 9 years after my dad blew the engine and started t as yet another project.

Now this is how she looks.

Not to different, but I only got about 2 months of work in on this and have spent less then $200 not including the price of the truck, rollbar and rims.

location fixxed

Re: lifted and needs driveshafts

Well i ws thinking about it last night. I got a truck front driveshaft that should fit. Then with the old front and old rear I could comibe them to have a long enough rear. Since the front has the double universal thing and the rear doesnt.

Re: lifted and needs driveshafts

Just an FYI, a K10 front DS will be the same as your blazer DS, the rear will be different though.

Here is what I did for my front.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=289285

To be honest I haven't had a chance to really test it in 4x4 situations, but it bolts up fine and has a decent amount of room to extend.

What did the shaft come off of with the longer lower portion?

Turns out the k10 front ds was longer, but not long enough.

This was a front and rear set from a 71-72 blazer with a th350/NP205 combo. I took the slip end from the rear drive shaft and put it on the front drive shaft. Added about 1.5 inches.

Re: lifted and needs driveshafts

My blazer is a 72 with th350/np205 and my front and rear slip ends are the same length. With what lookd like a stock 2'' block all around the shafts were basically maxxed out.
