I still take the phrase as literal and I do just that.

A wise man once said:

"It is easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission."

He just doesn't know how to "beg" properly

kinda goes back to the old joke....

"before we got married me and my wife decided that i would make all the big decisions and she would make all the little ones. After 30 years of marriage, we haven't had a big decision yet.''

I made a similar mistake a few years ago. she said she didnt mind my tool payments as long as they didnt go up any. so I bought a new box when the other one was paid for. ooops!

another time she said I could go to a towing auction and find a cheap car. she said I could spend $150. I came back with 2 $75 cars. she wasnt ammused.

How many pairs of shoes would she come home with if you told her she could spend $150.00?

Re: many can relate here, god bless an understanding wife

there's a guy in Winston/Salem trying to sell a toolbox. He evidently isn't good at the beg forgiveness thing either. He's had it for sale for about a year it's priced pretty good but still a Mac.The first ad stated his wife told him he couldn't have it.I guess he's making payments til it sells.

Me.I make all the decisions at my house.I do this knowing full well that my wife is going to override them but she thinks it makes me happy to decide.I guess it makes her happier to override.
