Door locks

Just bought a truck and wanted to know if there was anything I can do to fix my door locks. The truck is a 69C10. The doors lock with the key, but when you press button, you can open doors. This should not happen. Is there something worn in the handles.

Thanks

Re: Door locks

are you trying to push the button down then closing the door expecting it to stay locked? if so they dont work like that you need to use the key the oldschool way to lock doors

I don't get it. So you are stating I can never permanently lock my truck. Just for clarification, I lock with key, push the button and the once what I thought was locked door is now open. How do you lock them then and what is the purpose in having them work this way. How do I secure my truck from thieves.

Re: Door locks

Your door latch/lock assemblies probably just need lubed up, they may not be fully engaging into the locked postion with the key, allowing them to pop back into the unlocked postion as soon as the button is pushed in on exterior handle. With the door glass rolled down, push the interior lock knob all the way down and then try to open by the exterior door handle, if the door does stay in the locked position I would then look for stuck or worn parts between your keyed door lock and the door latch/lock assembly.

Re: Door locks

The levers on the back side of the lock are more than likely gone. If the key rotates 90 degrees and does not lock the door then this lever is either gone or bent where it doesn't contact the door mechanism. You'll have to pull the door panel to see this.

Ok, do they sell replacement parts to fix this. Something is obviously worn. They lock fine with key so oiling is not issue. They just open without the key. I am not opposed to getting new handles. Will this fix.

Thanks
