Lowering kit for best ride?
Well the subject line kinda sums it up. My 05 2wd shortbed Silverado has ridden like crap from the day I bought it new. My 71 C10 which is lowered rides 20 times better than my 05. Soooo anybody got any suggestions on a lowering kit that would drop it about 2"-4" and give me a nice ride? I know it's not supposed to ride like a caddy but damn.....

Re: Lowering kit for best ride?
i'm not really sure the c-10 probley has coils in the rear which offer a better ride the 2005 has leafsprings in the rear what kind of air pressure are you running in the tires the higher the pressure the worst the ride. i dont see how lowing a truck will make it rid better allt he same parts are there. it just been lowered.

Re: Lowering kit for best ride?
something to consider, at 4 inches you'll either want to notch the frame, or at the very least put a smaller bumpstop in the rear. here's my truck with a 3/4. coils in front and shackles and hangers in back. Both bumpstops are bottomed out (front and back)
But this won't actually change the suspension. Just lowers it. If you need a smoother ride you could look into what type of tires you have (are they passenger class, or heavy duty?) If you wanted to spend some bucks, you could put in some air bags, or convert the back end to a 4-link coilover setup or something. |
