Mirror help

Has anyone replaced the mirror in the old original mirror Guidex frame? I would like to keep my original one but the mirror glass is deteriorating, the rest of the setup is good. Anybody?

Re: Mirror help

Are you referring to the rear view mirror?

Re: Mirror help

I carefully pried the chrome lip up and removed the old mirror.
Bought a cheap replacement mirror at the parts store and ripped the mirror out of the one.

I outlined the old mirrors profile on the new mirror and a used diamond bit in my Dremel tool to shape it.

It worked out well.I did slip with the Dremel a couple times and have a couple scratches on one of the corners but it's out of my line-of-site and doesn't interfere with the dimming function.

Just take your time when prying up the lip.
A plastic prying tool would prob be the more appropriate tool for this job.(I used a small screwdriver)

I'll get pic's.

Re: Mirror help

BobbK, it helped a lot. When you peeled back the tan rubber piece enough to get to the edge of the mirror, was the mirror glued on?

Re: Mirror help

I believe it's only crimped in there.I don't remember any type of sealant or glue.
I did this when I 1st got the Blazer,8yrs ago now,so I'm a little foggy on the details.
