1970 GMC 4x4 Bushing replacement
I have a question about replacing a front bushing in my 70 GMC 1/2 ton 4x4.
It's a leaf spring bushing on the drivers side. Are they pressed in? How do you remove them? Thanks |

Re: 1970 GMC 4x4 Bushing replacement
They are in there very tight but you don't need a press to get them in or out....
I found the easiest way to get them out (and in) is to simply take a medium sized flathead screwdriver and tap in into the spring eye end.....it will slightly open the eye allowing to get the bushing out or in... When you remove the screwdriver the spring eye will "snap" right back! Dan

Re: 1970 GMC 4x4 Bushing replacement
If they are the originals, you will most likely have to burn them out with a torch. They usually are stuck to the bolt and will not let the bolt come out. I have had to torch them and you will need to keep some water or a fire extinguisher handy. The replacement bushings will go in easy.
