76 k10 all wheel drive?
i have a 76 k10 that appears to be all wheel drive. what type of TC is in it? is this a piece of equipment that i should replace?

if its 4x4 and is always in 4 wheel drive its a np203

thanks for the input. it has L loc - L - N -H - H loc on the shifter. is loc meaning diff lockers?

All K10s are 4x4. If you have a picture of the transfer case someone should be able to tell you if it is original 4x4 or one of the AWD units from a van or syclone. |

Factory refers to it as full time. It will have a 203 transfercase. You can either buy a 'part-time' kit for the case or swap over to a 205 gear driven case. The front axle can be converted very easily with a set of warn 20990 locking hubs (standard 1/2 ton issue).

I'm parting a 77 w/203 that has the part time kit and Warn Prem hubs, let me know if you decide to keep the 203, I'll be selling these parts shortly. |

The consenus is that the 205 is better because its gear driven and the 203 is chain driven.

Going by your shifter markings, you have a 203. The Low Loc & Hight Loc are not for the differentials. It's for the TC. If the TC, is in Low or High, the TC acts like a differential splitting power between the front & rear, but in either one of the LOC positions, the power is distributed evenly between front & rear.....
