Re: Long tube headers on a 4/6 drop

My 70 swb is dropped at least that. Its LOW with static drop. I have long tube hooker super comps. They rub in and out or the driveway and on some parking lot exits. Just the flanges so far but its annoying. I seem to hit/rub thh swaybar brackets more often though. Its ok but i would try and buy short tube headers before i spend the money on ceramic coating. Ill try and get you a pic.

Re: Long tube headers on a 4/6 drop

I can go down the road pretty easy and hit bumps at speed and not have a problem. I hit my sway bar bracket about 4-1 over my heders. I dont drive it daily though. People behind me get kinda mad when i slow to turn into a gas station or store front. I just give em a little blip of the old big block and a tire chirp. Like ramone on the movie cars said "low and slow"

Re: Long tube headers on a 4/6 drop

i HAD hedman lond tube headers on mine and the flange rubbed on everything. speed bumps, parkinlot exits, my driveway. and almost completely closed off the bottom tube that was closest to the ground on who knows what. I just recently got shorties and ran everything up in the frame. good luck

Re: Long tube headers on a 4/6 drop

I've got a 3.5/5 drop with Hedman long tubes. I've had no issues with hitting or rubbing anything yet. I just know they hang down, so I take it easy over speed bumps, potholes, etc.

Re: Long tube headers on a 4/6 drop

I'm really surprised by the two rubbing posts. I have a 5/7 drop and I have a country mile of room. I have never rubbed on anything. I think if a driveway is pitched enough, they might rub. When I get on my hands and knees and look under, tons of space. My exhaust is also ran under the frame and not through it. I guess it might be important to add though that I have some fairly good size tires up front.

Re: Long tube headers on a 4/6 drop

There was a time when about all lowered trucks ran full length headers. That`s all there was.anything shorter compromises the gain of headers over manifolds.I have regular headers for my static 4/6 truck I`m building.

Re: Long tube headers on a 4/6 drop

Im running thorely tri-y's with about a 5/6 Havent ever scraped the headers but have the flowmasters and pipes, especially putting it on a trailer even with a dovetail. I think it allso depends on if its a short or long wheel base.

Re: Long tube headers on a 4/6 drop

Just thought it may depend on if your using v8 mounts or 6 mounts mine is in the 6 position (dident know there was a difference at the time).
