69 396 Swb factory air tint

Hello I am Tiger Hays,I live south of Houston down by the water. I do alot of trout fishing and I build Jeeps.I havent owned or bought a 67-72 Chevy for about 25 yrs now untill today!
About 25 yrs ago I went to North side ofDallas to pick up a 65 4x4 lifted blah blah blah,it was a POS.On my way back threw Dallas I stopped at a shop to look at a 57 conv. I ended up with a 69 Swb 396 fleet side with a wood bed, auto a/c the works.Sold it in a pinch up in Arkansas a few years later and it bounced around for 20 yrs I guess. Last month I was back in Ark. deer hunting and I drove over to Amity to see some old friends I noticed a Blue and Silver SWB on the side of a old run down shop, mine was blue and white but I had heard rumors the white had been painted silver. So I stopped to take a look. Yeah pretty easy to see where this is going huh.I got my truck back. Not to bad of shape either but motor and tranny are gone. I can find a #s matching block but I have a 96 454 and trans which way to go??????
Later Hays

Well not much worth taking pics yet,or maybe I should and record it all? Who knows guess I will have to get a camera. I luve it the way it was blue and white. But black with grey leather buckets and console just sounds sweet'

Congrats on finding your truck, what a story! I know it's your truck and you didn't ask for a vote, but if you did I would lobby hard for the original blue and white. Here's some inspiration:

Welcome from the Heart of Arkansas! I have dreams of finding a couple of my old cars. Congrats on actually doing it.

Oh, go with what you got and get it running again.

Welcome to the fun, and congrats on getting your old truck back!
I would say go with the later model engine. The roller cam alone makes it 10 times better than the old stuff. you can dress it up to look like vintage stuff if you want... no one has to know your cam will live with normal over the counter oils unlike the old engines.
