Belated Sat pics (11-29) Turkey Run!!!
I know I know!! I'm running late! Our hotel had wireless issues and I didn't have internet again til Sunday. I figured I'd just wait it out and post em up once I got home and back on the desktop.
So, yes, We broke out the C10 for the 500+ mile trip (each way) to Daytona for the Turkey Run. If you've never been, you should go! There's thousands of cars everywhere you look, and more parts and vendors than time will allow you to see. On the trip down we kept smelling a foul odor. It would come and go and we really smelt it when we would stop for gas. I kept thinking "what stinks so damn bad in south Georgia and Florida?" We made it to our hotel and when we came back out after checking in the truck wouldn't crank. Turns out the voltage regulater on the altrernator had went bad and had overcharged and fried the battery. Fortunatly I had a toolbox to pull the parts and a buddy that was right down the road to pick me up for that ride to the parts store. The alternator had a lifetime warranty and the battery was pro-rated so I got out for less than $40. Anyway...on to the pics!!! Christy shot these of a trailer we were behind on I-75. Every time we saw a 54 Christy was a bit bummed that hers had to stay home. |

Re: Belated Sat pics (11-29) Turkey Run!!!
I got a chance to be there by accident last year. My son played in a football tournament during the same time that they were having the Turkey run. I was surprised by the number of cars there.
Did you go to the Hooters next to the Race Track? Best looking group of Hooters girls I have seen.

Re: Belated Sat pics (11-29) Turkey Run!!!
The Turkey Run is held at the Daytona speedway every Thanksgiving. It's well worth going to if you've never been. There were people there from overseas that had their cars shipped over to participate. Also ran in to people from the west coast and canada.
We didn't make it to Hooters but we did go to the Oyster pub....The girls have their parts hanging out there too. |

Re: Belated Sat pics (11-29) Turkey Run!!!
I'm glad I didn't get to go.I got a bad case of ride envy and sensory overload just from the pics.Asa as usual has done a fantastic job of documenting a show we all wish we could attend.

Re: Belated Sat pics (11-29) Turkey Run!!!
I thought the laser art was pretty impressive and reasonably priced. I did fail to ask for a phone# or to see if he has a website. The guy seemed pretty nice, not pushy like lots of the guys who are hocking stuff there.
I don't remember that 442 in particular. |

Re: Belated Sat pics (11-29) Turkey Run!!!
Great pics! Thanks for posting them. I've been looking for some good coverage from it. Did the economy hurt the turn out or the cruising? Seems like less cars cruising in the past years with gas expensive.
Makes me even sadder that I had to miss it. I've been every year but one since the late '80s! Life and job got in the way this year. Glad you had a great time.
