Re: polishing aluminium?

go to major swapmeets theres always a vendor with all the supplies you'll need really depends on how deep you want to go//you can start with a small drill operated buff kit for around$5 from sears or ace hardware or expand well beyond$1000 without much effort

Northern Tools also sells all the wheels and buffing compounds that you'll need.

Re: polishing aluminium?

I have a new kit that I purchased from Sears a few years ago, and never used it and never plan on it. I even bought the polishing wheel for my bench grinder. Still new in the package. I take my stuff to a pro, now. It takes patience.

Re: polishing aluminium?

if you want to learn the art of polishing aluminum, stainless and other metals. the eastwood Company has an instruction videos the art of buffing video 1 will be all you need. just putting some jewlers rouge will work but theres a lot to it if you really want to have some showroom stuff. i have no aliegence to eastwood but they're about the best out there on resto stuff IMHO a bit pricy though good luck phipp

Re: polishing aluminium?

I polished the lips on my Hayabusa rims with diff grades if sand paper, the the polishing compounds down to the last stage with Blue magic alum and chrome polish. I had a mirror finish when done. Took forever though. About guessing 20hrs. a rim. Worth it though.

Re: polishing aluminium?

The best online tutorial is on Caswell's page.
http://www.caswellplating.com/buffs/buffman.htm

They have good supplies also.
