What do ya'll think(console)
I built this console over the weekend. Not quite done yet. Still have to make a lid for the compartment at the rear. I thought I'd cover it with some kind of material.

That looks great. I have been planning something like that for mine. I am new to carpenter work but I think I can do it.

Looks good. i would cover it with black vynal...but that's how I'll end up doing my seat.
One question...what about getting heat to your feet? You just gonna let it flow around, or you going to put a duct extension and some small vents in the bottom. I could see your stereo overheating if you just let the vent blow hot air up in there. I always wanted to be able to build stuff like that. I can't even cut a straight line...even with the circular saw. |

I could imagine that stereo would get real hot with the heater on. What is in the cd pockets? felt? or just wood?

The cup holders I got out of a capet kit for my other truck. I do plan on rounding off the corners. The speakers are on the side of the console further back bocked in and padded. As far as the heat I am going to run ducts to each side of it and use extra defrost vents that I have. Thanks for the compliments.

That does look pretty sweet!! I like the CD holder. As big as it is you could probably install a 10 disc cd changer into it as well.

Just from experience, You should build anything that will have speakers in it out of high density partical board. plywood glue tends to come appart and rattle after a while. looks great though! I need to build something like that for mine just to get the cupholders.

I would not cover it with any material. Dye it, to match your interior or your truck. Im working on instrument clusters out of the same wood thats used in some of the big suv's. Except im dying the wood. Will submit a photo in a few weeks.
