08 Jeep headlights in a square body

I was looking for a different headlight option for my 77. We had an 08 Jeep Wrangler at the shop for some work...then the tape measure came out, and it ended up with a trip to the Jeep dealer! Though not cheap ($ 108.00 ea.) with the bulb. They have a much more dome shape than the aftermarket clear style lights, and they bolt right in place of the originals! I have a couple pigtail plugs ordered for the bulb connection, but you could use spade connectors just as well.

Re: 08 Jeep headlights in a square body

Well judging by the jeep...i would say twice as bright as the truck originals! I had to order the other light (they only stock one!). Once i have the pigtails and the other light i will update.

That is too cool. I wondered if those were the same size. I'll bet they are much better than the aftermarket ones that are available.

could you do a side by side comparison once you get both of them...once you wire one up, you could compare each side by side and then wire the second up...

The lights come with a Philips H-13 60/55 w. bulb. As far as brightness they will be WAY brighter than a stock sealed beam. They are composite not glass like aftermarket lights, so i know they will be more durable. But most important to me...they just look cool with that big dome shape!

Re: 08 Jeep headlights in a square body

hey crawdad,
looks good!! so do you not have to modify the harness as all??? i know that on my '72 i would have to get relays to add brighter lights. i guess the voltage for the jeep lights requires the same as the factory light setup... they sure do look good, the extra shape adds a old quality to it.... i think anyways.
thanks!!

p.s. i am still really mad that i couldn't jump on that before you!!! (lol)..... stupid economy!, because of some stupid people now all the people have to suffer!

I have pigtails ordered to make the hook-up from the old harness to the new light. LMC and others sell a harness conversion w/ relays that takes power from the battery not the switch for $30.00.

Re: 08 Jeep headlights in a square body

Did you get the jeep lights put in? You said it was a direct bolt in, right? I'm wanting to do this too, but waiting to see how it goes with your truck. Rockauto.com has the lights for $59.00 each. Then all I would need is pigtails and relays.

Re: 08 Jeep headlights in a square body

I did power the lights up a short while (i am relocating the battery and moding the harness some) They are at least twice as bright as the old sealed beams! Sounds like you found a killer deal on them! I used Mopar # 1-68018959AA pigtails without a relay. I have heard they are brighter with the relay set up. As far as bolting them in, the Jeep light comes with a mounting bracket and trim ring, throw that stuff away and bolt them right in with the GM factory retainer ring and your set !

Re: 08 Jeep headlights in a square body

so if ya do the conversion you need a relay for it to work properly cause i have a 73 and that looks like a great change from the sealed beams. i hate the looks of euro lights that looks more OEM

No you dont have to run a relay. The harness with relay that LMC and others sell takes it power from the battery and not the switch. They say it makes the conversion headlights brighter. I ran the euro style lights on my 87 for years without a relay and they worked great. The bulb that comes with the Jeep headlight has smaller pins than most, so i bought the matching Mopar pigtails (#1-68018959AA...$16.00 ea.) to make it a factory looking set up.

Re: 08 Jeep headlights in a square body

If you stay with the 55/60 watt bulbs you shouldn't need a relay. If you go with any higher wattages then you should deffinetly use a relay.

What model jeep did these come out of? NEVER MIND I RE-READ THE FIRST POST AND FOUND THE ANSWER... 08 JEEP WRANGLER.
