Re: Power Steering Conversion Question

If you space the steering gear off of the frame at all, you will "off center" the steering gear. Kit or no kit. So I wouldn't do it. I would heat the chassis in the area that needs to be dimpled, then dimple it. Otherwise the truck will drive "twitchy" (Super sencitive when going strait down the road) If you want to space the steering gear off of the frame then just use hardened cat washers. WES

Re: Power Steering Conversion Question

Any idea on good rebuilt steering boxes? I'm on my 3rd one and not happy.

I ordered an AGR but they make them only for 4 wheel drive or "after market crossover steering " whatever that is. It had a different spline for the pitman arm.

So with it all apart, I just went to NAPA and got a rebuilt 76 variable rate box. It worked great for a few months but now has a bunch of slack in it.

Borgenson remanufactures them (pretty pricey)... anyone go that route; suggestions?

SAGINAW 700 VARIABLE RATIO BOX Remanufactured OEM Saginaw 700 variable ratio boxes are available. Enjoy the Benefits of a quick ratio for easy parking and low speed cruising, plus the benefit of a slower ratio for highway driving. Outside frame mount truck boxes also available. All Mullins steering boxes have a 3-year warranty.
