Exhaust Questions...
Hey everyone...couple questions...
I'm looking to put a nice throaty exhaust on my 82 longbed...im thinking about going with long tube hedman headers...3" pipe...out to two flowmaster 40 series mufflers...exiting before the rear tires... Anybody have some good expeirences with 3" piping or 2.5"? Will their really be a difference in torque output? How about a crossover pipe, like an H-pipe or would true duals be the better choice? I'm curious because i dont wanna spend bookoos of money on an exhaust i wont like... If anyone has any videos of different types of exhaust...i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance Kris

Re: Exhaust Questions...
flowmaster 40 series will drone you to death especially dumping before the rear axle. I wouldn't do it if its your daily driver. 2 1/2" and 3" pipes are way too big for a 305. Looks like you are building a 383? I would go 2 1/2" thats what I always run with mild built 350's on up to 454's. I don't have any experience with h pipes sorry.

Re: Exhaust Questions...
Thanks guys for your input...they're really helping me decide...
loud is what i like. right now i dont even have a muffler on it...i like the hum of the motor doin about 45-50...so to be honest i dont really want a quiet exhaust... the 383 im building...wont necessarily be mild..."big" cam, "big" heads, matching intake...blah blah blah... lets just say when i mash the pedal, i wanna scare the sh*t out of the car next to me like the way my dads big block did when he had it in his 69 Thanks again guys.

Re: Exhaust Questions...
An x-pipe is the way to go for torque. I love the sound of Flows, but the 40s just give me a headache after 40 miles.. 50s are nice though.
