issues with front 3"drop...
ok well, a friend of mine did a 3/5 drop in my truck today.... he ordered the parts and i never mentioned to him that it had a big block, so instead of being a 3" front drop its more like a 5-6"!!!! now this is the deal, i will eventually be swapping in an LS motor in it in about a year or two, so those springs will work perfect, but what can i do in the mean time to raise the front, does someone sale any air shocks for the front that i can add air to raise the front a little or should i just go ahead and install the 3"drop springs for a bigblock truck?
thanks...

Re: issues with front 3"drop...
I would do Air bags on schrader valves,... or cut your stock springs for now.
(Rule of thumb: 1/2 coil = 1" of drop).

Oh man, I have the ECE 4/6 static drop kit for my 68'. It has a BBC 396. I never thought to ask about the engine weight. Now I'm worried.

Re: issues with front 3"drop...
What problem.. I have a 5 inch drop and like it!
Though I think your springs are probably now compressed more than designed for a good ride... and alignment can be a problem. I'd get the right springs because while you say the swap will be soon, most of us spend twice as long as we think getting things done. Plus, you can sale the heavy duty springs and recoup half the money by then. |

Re: issues with front 3"drop...
Just a question: What springs did you order. They wouldn't be from ChassisTech or AIM would they?

Re: issues with front 3"drop...
you could fab up some weight jack bolts to raise the spring off the crossmember however high you want it. im putting some in my 68 longbed. i can go into the topic fully if you need...
