5.3 4wd swap questions
I have seen alot of these threads lately, but not in 4wd trucks/Blazers. I have a few questions:
1. Motor mounts. I have seen the mounts available for 2wd, but is the 2wd the same as the 4wd? If not, what are my options? I am leaning on building my own. 2. Headers. What mid length headers work with the motor mounts mentioned above? I can also build my own, but I just cant build them for the price of the Headmans, Hookers, etc. 3. A/C. I will have the compressor on the motor. Right now, my Blazer is heat only. Besides the controls and the condensor, what else do I need to complete my cold air? Is there a kit that will work with my new compressor? These sound like newbie questions, sorry 'bout that Last edited by sandking; 01-13-2009 at 10:28 PM. |

Re: 5.3 4wd swap questions
I have a 72 Blazer frame with a 72 Cab and bed that has been cut down to size with a 5.3L. I could not find any after market mounts that were guaranteed to work so I had mounting pads manufactured and welded to the frame that would except standard motor mounts. I used short headers (Headman) for a 2003 Tahoe. I had to notch the frame on the passenger side. I used the existing radiator. Motor sits nice. Looks like it came that way. Can't help you on the A/C . Good Luck

Re: 5.3 4wd swap questions
I got an aftermarket A/C kit from Old Air. I told the guy on the phone that I had an LS1 compressor, so he didn't include that in the kit. He said I may have to order a "block" that bolts to the compressor that the lines connect to, but gave me the name of a company that should be able to help me out. Doc's Blocks btw.
Good luck. |
