Talking Ok...it's time again for whats wrong with this ebay truck for sale ad

Quote:
1970 Chevy Pick up. Short Bed. This car is a classic! It has all original interiors, gas caps, hub caps, body style. No damage or wrecks only second owner. In very good condition. Pictures do not give this car justice! The motor was replaced in the summer. Runs well! I am willing to negotiate.
Arizona car. no rust all original (extra parts available)

Ok...call me sick in a sort of way but...I enjoy analyzing trucks that are for sale that are posted as original. I can tell the obvious but many of you are for more knowledgeable than I about what is factory and what isn't. So lets...and lests keep this friendly and fun...find what is not original about this truck. Let the fun begin.
I'll start...It is stated as having hub caps and it doesn't plus Rallies were not an option. Ooops #1. Next?

Non original steering wheel, map pocket screwed onto door panels, where are the mirrors?, clear/white front turn signals, although the grill insert looks nice and original with the painted lines, oh and deluxe sidemarker lights.

You mean other than the fact that it is a POS. I would not give the guy more than $800 for that truck. I am not trying to be a dick ,but it's not something that I would buy unless it was going REAL cheap. I would look at it as a parts truck,,just me.-KB

WOW!! Don't hold back! I respectfully disagree with you. A solid rust free rolling chassis truck (if it is truly rust free), is easily worth 1000.00 A good short fleet bed in solid rust free condition gets anywhere from 500.00 to 800.00. The interior isn't that bad, and if it is a running truck that can be driven, I say it is worth at least 2500.00. If it does truly have a newer engine than it might even be worth a little more if it runs Really well. Add to that that it has obviously been converted to disc brakes in front. Seems like a pretty good deal to me. Even here in a non rust belt area we still have a little rust, and that truck still seems like a good deal. If that is what you consider a parts truck, then I'll take your parts truck any day! Have you had to buy any parts for these trucks lately? THey are getting harder to find in good original condition and the aftermarket products aren't quite up to snuff yet. Again, I think it isn't too bad of a deal so far. JMHO.

Oh yeah, The three point seat belts. It is definately not original, but is in decent condition and the mods that were done are tasteful and necessary improvements. Looks like a good deal at the 2500 its at right now.

Not so fast on the 3 point seat belts. They were indeed an option and a very very rare one at that. Just ask anyone who has either purchased a set or are still looking for a set of 3 point seatbelts.
BTW: Not saying that they are original but...
I need more pics to better pic this truck apart.

Yep, he's right...ever wonder about those plugs right above the driver's and passenger seat on the sail panel? Yep, those are for the shooulder belt attachment. I have actually seen 2 67-72 vehicles with three points...one was a 70 truck and the other was a Chevelle. A very rare option indeed.

It looks like a pretty decent truck, I live about 5 miles from the guy and have e-mailed him to call me so I could look at the truck and he says I will call you but he doesnt? I think maybe his wife wants him to sell it but he doesnt want to part with it. If he calls me I will end up looking at it this weekend and will let you know how it looks in person, thanks Michael.

Even RARER than the corvette optioned trucks was a little known option that hunters just fell in love with, it was called the "White tail edition" and was a dealer add on, NOT factory!

Glovebox door bowtie. Guage under guage panel. I'd name more, but I'm not sure on some of it.

That clear coat paint peeling off the rear of the bed sure isn't original. Our trucks were all shot with a single stage paint.
